Your relationship with your dog is a bank account

💸💰Think of your relationship with your dog like a bank account.💰💸
How many deposits are you making each day? Are they small deposits, or are they big deposits?
Every time you make a deposit into this bank account, you are building trust with your dog. You are literally setting the stage for what will be the next 12-14 years of your life!
The more deposits you make, big and small, the more apt your dog will be to be engaged with you and to look to you for guidance.
What about withdrawals? Do you find yourself regularly making withdrawals?
Every time you have to make a withdrawal, whether it's an emergency vet visit, or accidentally putting your dog in a scary situation, you are withdrawing some of that trust you have built with your dog.
The goal becomes making significantly more deposits day to day so that when you do have to make a withdrawal, it is not detrimental to your overall relationship.
When that bank account has a long history of daily and weekly deposits, your dog will be in a position to show you grace and forgiveness if you have to make a withdrawal, or even more so, if you accidentally make a big withdrawal.
